An introduction to the travels of Jenny & Paul

Welcome to my blog! A column documenting the adventures of Jenny and Paul as we meander across Asia in search of new experiences and exciting adventures. Having spent the past three or four months wrestling with findmespots that don't work, internet connections that range from mediocre to terrible and the general hassle of trying to get anything done without remaining in one place for much more than a couple of days, I have finally got this webpage set up. So now you, my friends, family and anyone else who may have a passing interest in the adventures of an Americanised Brit traversing the globe, can read about what I've been doing, seeing and thinking along the way.

To give you a bit of background (and remind of you who I am if you feel I've been away from the UK too long!), Paul and I met in Sri Lanka nearly five years ago when we were both working on various reconstruction projects after the Tsunami of December 26th, 2004. Since then we flitted back and forth over the Atlantic for a while until I moved out to Big Sky, Montana - a beautiful place in the USA that no-one in England had ever heard of. Once I had exhausted all possible visa options to work in the States, we decided that the obvious solution to my lack of legal work status was to move to Asia! So here we are, already 4 months into a trip that has been beautiful, exhausting, crazy and definitely a lot of fun!

Paul has been using his wonderful camera to document out travels with photos, but I have decided to write about them and the laptop’s memory is slowly being filled with snippets of my compositions. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but as Paul has already taken around 4357 photographs, I am going to just publish an abbreviated version, as I am sure nobody wants to read over 4 million words of the world according to Jenny!

At this point (March 14th), my writings on Sri Lanka are almost complete, but India is still in first draft form and the rest of South East Asia is as yet unexperienced. We have just arrived in the Andaman Islands for my birthday, where I will take a break on the beach to edit and organise my musings (some written at the time, some retrospective). As internet on the island we are heading towards may possibly be of the pre-historic variety, these will either appear very slowly for your perusal, or I will be uploading a small thesis all at once when I return to the realm of modern broadband. From then on, I will hopefully be posting regular updates on our progress, or lack thereof. Happy reading!
